This page relates to the project in general. For the storyline of Vengeance, click here.
I started making games in August of 2004, now 4 years ago. My games were always lame, but generated a lot of hype for some reason. Probably because the main forums I posted on didn't feature a lot of RMXP games. I discovered the Netplay project a few years after, and became an active member in their community when Netplay+ was released. I got to know the system a fair bit, and since then all of my games have included it. My most successful game prior to Vengeance being Lost Fantasy.
LF was cancelled due to too many unfinished areas. I decided to try again, from scratch, with a completely new game, in January 2006. This was Vengeance in it's earliest form. It came close to being released at Hallowe'en 2007, and then Christmas 2007, and then Easter 2008... But it would never happen. Vengeance was in such a bad state - unfinished maps, cool but impossible to pull off concepts, and general bad coding on my half.
So I decided to restart, from scratch. Not entirely - the scripting half has stayed, which has since been massively overhauled with the removal of the SDK and the improvement of several vital systems (sparking new bugs, but hey it would have happened anyway).
I have ran a few Beta tests and have decided to take a bit of time finishing everything off as best as possible for a big Omega Release in the future.

Being online is not enough for Vengeance. I don't want just a graphical chat engine, I want an actual playable game. A lot of research and time has been spent into making the various systems in Vengeance, such as the battle system. On top of this are merchant skills. These are designed to let the player earn money -without grinding-. There are currently Fishing, Mining, and Farming, in the game.
A Beta is available to try on the forums (link be at the top of this post). You need to register to download it. Saving does not work however, which is a major downside. I've been unable to fix it, but will try for the future. (Obviously saving is pretty important...)

Much of the storyline of Vengeance will be told through quests.
At the moment the current quests are very short and not worthy of being called quests - they stand as examples. More will be added shortly, with a lot more content and storyline based exploration, etc.
In the next edition however a large amount of emphasis has been placed on quests. Quests are a lot longer than in the Beta, and have rewards and boss battles that make it worth the time.

There are currently 43 enemies in the game. The weakest of which is the Rat, with 5 HP; the strongest are the Energy Daemon, Treant, and Guardian, each with 180 HP.

In Vengeance, levelling up is not the same as other games. You gain exp from defeating foes; this exp is then "spent" on training classes with class trainers. They reward you with either HP, MP, or a new skill. (Max HP is 99, max MP is also 99).
The current classes are:
- Necromancer (Death Mage)
- Infernomancer (Fire Mage)
- Healer (Health renewing magic and "holy" spell types)
Classes that will be added include:
- Pirate (yarrrg)
- Assassin (quick attacks but at close range)
- Guerromancer (Battle Mage - i.e. skills that aid one in battle) |
